Case Study: Smoking No Longer Cool
Henry (not his real name) was typical of many smokers; he had started smoking in his teens in order to be “cool.” Now he was short of breath and it wasn’t cool anymore.
We spent 2 hours in the morning using various NLP techniques to discover and clear his smoking triggers. We also made some new neural connections that “re-programmed” him to associate the smell of cigarettes with a smell he detested – burning nylon rope. Then we took a lunch break.
On returning to my office after the break, he reported that on getting into his car, he had automatically reached for a cigarette like always. But when he put it in his mouth, he found that it tasted like burning plastic. Amazed, he yanked it out of his mouth-and this was before we even did the actual hypnosis portion of the foundation program!
By the end of the day he was a total nonsmoker. Like most of my smoking cessation clients, he reported no discomfort or irritability in the following days. Last I heard (a year later) he was still smoke free.

In working with countless smokers I have found that there are generally two groups.
Group One:
Smokes because it’s a habit. They started in order to look cool or to have something to do with their hands. Now they need help to stop. They may have tried to quit before sometimes successfully for a while. But then some stressful event in their lives challenged them and without the tools this program provides, they slipped back. Many of these folks have tried the patch or other methods and either had adverse reactions or weren’t able to quit that way. This the majority of the smokers I work with. Many of these people are able to walk away from their cigarette habit for good with the assistance of hypnosis and NLP in a single session. Others need more support and reinforcement but the end result is the same. Becoming a non smoker.
Group Two:
Smokes because they have underlying emotional issues that they have not addressed. They may have already given up drugs and alcohol and now they smoke. Cigarettes may be their only friend. It’s a form of self medication.
I can assist both groups to quit smoking but the second group often needs to do some significant foundation work to clear trauma or other emotional issues first before they can even consider addressing the smoking. Then they need a significant follow-up period to ensure they get the emotional support they need to make the deep and profound changes they need to make.

What’s different about my Program?
First of all I have a lot more training than the average hypnotherapist. I am not only a certified master hypnotherapist, I am also a certified trainer of hypnosis. I am currently a PhD candidate in clinical hypnosis as well which has many benefits for you as I am constantly learning and improving my techniques.
In addition I am a certified master practitioner and trainer of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming ) and Time Line TherapyTM two leading edge resources for rapid change that compliment hypnosis perfectly. There are very few NLP practitioners in this area and even fewer qualified to teach it.
Also, I use a technique called EFT (emotional freedom technique ) that is often used by itself with radically positive results.
I use all of these techniques as necessary and where appropriate. Consider this analogy: who would you prefer to have build your house – a carpenter with a hammer and a saw or a master carpenter with a whole trailer full of precision tools?
Secondly, unlike other practitioners, I do not usually charge by the hour. I charge a flat fee so you know what it’s going to cost up front. My flat fee programs usually end up costing people far less than if I charged the typical $500 to $1,000 per hour rate of an NLP practitioner with my level of training and experience. My programs are designed to get you results and save you money and the stress of having to pay for follow up visits.
Thirdly, I use all of the techniques in my own life that I will be using with you. Although I was never a smoker, I’ve overcome and cleared a huge array of other challenges that were just as life threatening and self destructive. I know what it’s like to feel helpless and hopeless in the face of a negative behavioral pattern.
Finally I teach my clients how to run their own brains so they can be in charge of their change. Everything we do to stop your smoking habit has powerful applications in your personal and professional life as well. Many of my non-smoking clients have gone on to increase their incomes and improve their relationships dramatically.
