NLP Practice Building Tip #1: Home Office or Office Outside the Home?
For the majority of my 15 years or so as a Master Practitioner and Trainer of NLP, Hypnosis and Time Line(tm) Techniques I have worked out of my home.
This has given me not just a sweet tax write off on the portion of my home I use exclusivly for business, but it has saved me a ton of overhead and the inconvenience of twiddling my thumbs while waiting for clients that sometimes don’t show up.
I usually recommend to my NLP students that they start their practice right from their living rooms or dens in order to conserve cash flow while they get experience.
One of the biggest mistakes I made in my first year of practice was to rent an expensive office that added a huge amount of stress and pressure and quite literally stole my “profits.”
Since them I have been happiest working out of my home.
AND! (NLP agreement frame :o)
The other day something happened that has NEVER happened in all the years I’ve been practicing….
A new client refused to see me because I work out of my home… And it wasn’t even an anxiety client…
Here’s the video!
What do you think?
I can understand not wanting to work out of your home if you have dogs, small children, teen-agers or whatever, but how have you found the cost/reward of renting a separate office somewhere outside of your home?
Is it working? Or is it a cash flow killer?
